March 25, 2014 – Facebook today announced the acquisition of Oculus VR, Inc., the leader in immersive virtual reality technology, for a total of approximately $2 billion.
Oculus VR Inc., founded in 2012, is building a next-generation consumer virtual reality platform. The company’s first product, the Oculus Rift, is a virtual reality headset that allows you to step inside a digital environment and feel as though you are truly there. The Oculus Rift provides an immersive, stereoscopic 3D view with an ultra-wide field of view and low latency head tracking that lets you look around naturally in 360 degrees. read more here....
So in future we will experience a boom in binaural recording. 3D experience is an old human dream and I’m sure that, thanks to Facebook, the consumers will soon ask for 3D equipment. Soundman mikes will make it possible!

Harbour Symphony July 15 2012. Birthday TALE by Delf Maria Hohmann
The Harbour Symphony is original music written for the horns of the ships in the St. John's harbour. This signature fanfare of the Sound Symposium transforms the ships in the harbour into an orchestra on water. Each Harbour Symphony begins with a radio countdown transmitted to the bridge of the ships by the Coast Guard where players stand at the helms of tugboats, trawlers, and ocean-going freighters.
